The Psychology Editorial Board will regularly highlight an exemplary site in MERLOT. Check this page regularly to find out about the best of the MERLOT Psychology Collection.
This month's featured item in the MERLOT Psychology Collection is
"The Psychology of Politics"

As we can’t help but notice, this is an election year in the U.S. What better time to consider incorporating this very current event into your psychology courses? Why not demonstrate the power of psychology through its impact on our behaviors and attitudes? With this in mind, we would like to invite you to add your favorite websites that focus on psychology and politics to our collection. We will seek to review them in a timely manner and may possibly feature them here. Interested in reviewing for us? Please contact the MERLOT Psychology Editor by clicking here.
The site that gave us the idea for this focus is one that can be used not only in your classes, but to entertain your friends. This was one of those sites that makes reviewing a pleasure – a site that entices you to explore it more and more. Check out “Implicit Association Tests” at http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=83803 and explore your implicit attitudes about not only political parties and candidates, but also race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disabilities, and so on. Are your implicit views, as demonstrated here, consistent with your explicit and conscious attitudes and behaviors? And is this a valid approach to testing your inner views? There are various ways to use this site – we hope you will enjoy is as much as we did.
Have a wonderful summer,
